Christoph Bertram leitet das Team zur Internationalen Klimapolitik innerhalb der Energiesystemgruppe am PIK. Er arbeitet an der Darstellung von Klima- und Energiepolitiken in gekoppelten Wirtschafts- und Energiesystemmodellen zur Analyse von Klimaschutzstrategien. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind unter anderem

  • die Wechselwirkungen zwischen mittelfristigen Energie- und Klimapolitiken und langfristigen Klimazielen (u.a. "carbon lock-in"),
  • nationale Politikanalysen, inkl. nationally determined contributions (NDCs) und mid-century strategies (MCS),
  •  breitere Nachhaltigkeitsauswirkungen des Energiesystems in Klimaschutzszenarien,
  • sowie die Frage, wie sich Ergebnisse aus Klimaschutzszenarien zur Analyse von Transitionsrisiken von Volkswirtschaften und Unternehmen verwenden lassen.

Er studierte Physik und Politikwissenschaft in Tübingen und Córdoba, Argentinien, und promovierte in Ökonomie an der Technischen Universität Berlin. Nachdem er ein Jahr lang als WBGU-Referent für die Professoren Rahmstorf und Schellnhuber tätig war, arbeitet er seit April 2011 in der Gruppe Energiesysteme in der Forschungsabteilung 3: Transformationspfade.
