Steve Hoong Chen Teo is a postdoctoral research fellow in climate and ecosystem science, based in the Munich Climate Center and Earth System Modelling Group of Prof. Niklas Boers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He holds a Ph.D. from the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at the National University of Singapore, and a B.Sc in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham.

As a leading global voice on nature-based solutions, carbon market integrity, and ecosystem resilience, his research has provided evidence-based thought leadership to global policymakers, such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the Lancet Pathfinder Commission. He was appointed as Singapore's expert representative to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP27 scientific conference.

Steve’s current research investigates the dynamical stability of terrestrial ecosystems and their carbon fluxes, analysing resilience loss, critical transitions, and tipping risks using observations and modelling.
