Wireless Networks (WiFi)

Important! In order to keep user account information (user name / password) secure and to protect the privacy of user data, it is of utmost importance to only connect mobile devices to trustworthy network access points. Security of WiFi connections can be guaranteed only, if a proper certificate is installed in the mobile device. This folder contains all the information required to download and install a top-level certificate issued by Deutsche Telekom. It is strongly recommended to install this certificate before connecting to any wireless network. This is important in particular, if the connection is to be made with an EDUROAM network. Please note, that information in this folder is only visible for logged-in users]

Describes access to the encrypted "PIK-Staff" wireless data network available to all members of staff [log-in required].

The Eduroam WiFi network is a distributed global infrastructure provided by many research institutions worldwide. Access to the network is granted solely on the basis of the user account information provided by the home institution. Thus the network is available to members of PIK staff traveling to other Eduroam institutions as well as to PIK visitors while staying at the institute without an additional registration.

Describes access to the unsecured "PIK-Visitors" wireless data network which should be used exclusively by short term visitors who are not participating in the Eduroam Infrastructure [log-in required].
