The Kreiser Award is a distinguished annual honor presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of environmental taxation or the use of economic instruments in research or policy.
Each year, the recipient is selected by the Chair of that year's GCET. Therefore, the Kreiser Award is not open to direct submissions.
The award is named in recognition of Professor Larry Kreiser, Professor Emeritus of Accounting and former Chairperson of the Department of Accounting at Cleveland State University, Ohio, USA. Professor Kreiser was the visionary behind the creation of this international conference series. He brought together experts from various disciplines to form a global forum for exchanging cutting-edge research and experience in environmental taxation. The first GCET was held in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2000, thanks to his initiative and leadership. For many years, Professor Kreiser also served as the Chief Editor of the Critical Issues in Environmental Taxation series, published annually by Edward Elgar.
