Controlled synchronization in heterogeneous multilayer networks

The project is aimed at studying the effects of complete, partial, and remote (relay) synchronization of the spatio-temporal dynamics in interacting layers (subsystems) of heterogeneous multilayer networks and exploring the possibilities and methods of controlling synchronization. It is planned to perform research studies which are aimed at solving the following fundamental problems: - Definition of the conditions and features of synchronization patterns in interacting ensembles and heterogeneous multilayer networks with different dynamics of the individual elements. Revealing the role of heterogeneity of layers in a multilayer network in the partial synchronization regime. - Impact of the character and the topology of intra-layer and inter-layer couplings on synchronization patterns in interacting complex networks. - Analysis of the possibilities of controlling synchronization in multilayer networks by means of external signals, by tuning parametrically the coupling or using adaptive coupling schemes. - Analysis of relay synchronization in networks with heterogeneous layers. - Study of relay synchronization and its control in multilayer neuronal models.
