Susanne Åkerfeldt is a Senior Adviser, with more than 30 years of experience of fiscal climate policy design through her work at the Swedish Ministry of Finance. Her work has included fine-tuning the Swedish carbon tax as well as pursuing national green tax reforms and aiming for EU legislation to better reflect the Polluters Pay Principle. Her knowledge of the EU CBAM is extensive. She has been seconded by the Swedish Government to the EU Commission in 2021-2022, being the main legal drafter of the EU CBAM proposal and to the World Bank Group in 2024-2026, focusing on climate aspects of fiscal policy for developing countries. She has been engaged in global climate policy for many years within the framework of the UN, as co-coordinator of the UN Subcommittee on Environmental Taxation. Susanne has a Master of Laws degree from Uppsala University and received the GCET’s Kreiser Award in 2020.
