All relevant information for presenters in the academic conference sessions

Information For Presenters

Presentation format

  • Presentations will be scheduled for 24 minutes (including Q&A). Please respect your colleagues and keep to the allocated time for your presentation.
  • Presentation files should be in PowerPoint (.pptx or .ppt format) or .pdf format. We kindly ask you to include your last name in the file name to avoid any confusion.
  • Presentation slides can be uploaded before the conference using this link, for which a password has been sent to all presenters via email, or otherwise brought directly to the sessions on a USB drive.
  • A computer (MS Windows environment) will be available in each session room and a conference assistant will be present in every session room in case of technical difficulties.
  • Presentations should be held in English only.

Organisation of Sessions

  • All academic conference sessions will be 2 hours and will be held in parallel sessions, as can be seen in the general programme.
  • To see when your presentation will take place, please refer to the detailed programme of the academic conference sessions.
  • Presenters should come to the assigned room at least 10 minutes before the start of the session so that the Chair of the session knows that you are present and to allow time for the presentations to be copied onto the computer.
  • A session Chair will introduce each speaker and manage the timing of presentations.

Session Chairs

  • One person in each session is designated as the session Chair. To see whether you will be chairing your session, please check the detailed programme of the academic conference sessions where we will include this information before 20 August.
  • Chair persons should come to the room at least 10 minutes before the start of the session.
  • Chairs are asked to briefly introduce the session and the speakers, make sure the time available is divided equally and guide the discussion following each presentation.
  • In the unlikely case where the scheduled chair does not attend, the presenter of the session’s last paper is expected to take over the role of chair.

Any questions regarding these instruction and late cancellations should be sent to gcet27@pik-potsdam.de.
