Schuster

Antonia Schuster is a PhD student at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, part of Copan and supervised by Dr. Ilona M. Otto. She has strong interest in social and environmental inequalities and analyzes the differences and hot spots of individual resource and energy use. She focuses on socio-metabolic class conflicts and proposes a novel social stratification theory to discuss political implications as well as behavioral changes that are needed to meet climate policy objectives. In the long run she attempts to improve the implementation of human agents and their inherent agency for modeling human-environmental system interactions. She is also a researcher for The REBOOST - a Boost for Rural Lignite Regions which is a project that aims to support stakeholders in three European lignite mining regions (Lusatia in Germany, Konin in Poland, and Gorj in Romania) in the transition from the current high economic dependence on lignite to a low-carbon future. Antonia holds a master degree in agricultural economics that was awarded with the Albrecht-Daniel-Thaer Prize for outstanding graduation. In 2018, she was sent by the Humboldt University Excellence Initiative to present her research results at the 26th SIICUSP Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Antonia attaches great importance to social involvement and is committed to improving science communication. She gives workshops and talks about environmental inequalities and climate justice in a professional context as well as to curious and young people.
