Sandra Barberino

Sandra Barberino is a research assistant at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in the Research Department 2 – Climate Resilience, a member of the working group Urban Transformations. Background is in Political Science and International Relations (B.A., Università del Salento, Italy, 2010; M.A. in Political Science and Sustainable Development, 2013) and environmental sciences (M.Sc. in Integrated Natural Resource Management, Faculty of Life Sciences, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, 2024). Research interests include environmental cooperation and conflict, sustainability transformations, socio-ecological systems analysis, environmental governance, participation, collaborative processes, and science-based decision-making, including the local implementation of climate policies. Currently involved in projects focused on modeling tools supporting urban actors in developing climate mitigation and adaptation plans and actions (CAPs and SECAPs), and decarbonisation pathways towards climate neutrality.
