Short biosketch:

My research interests are related to key elements of sustainability research, namely climate change impacts on forests and all other kinds of systems, adaptation to these impacts as well as how resilience, sustainable development and sustainable natural resource management in social-ecological systems can contribute to these issues. Recently, I was coordinating lead author of a report prepared for the World Bank (Turn down the Heat) in which we studied climate impacts in different regions of the world and their implications for development. This report received world-wide media attention and I have presented and discussed it at several occasions at the highest political level. Currently, I am working in the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISI-MIP) and I am leading the COST Action FP1304 PROFOUND (see here and here). Moreover, I am an editor for the journal Regional Environmental Change. Additionally, I have been teaching a course on “Adaptation to Global Change” at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development in the past six years. I strive to publish my research in scientific journals but also in other publications for a non-scientific audience.
