Malin Ödalen is an ocean/climate modeller working on understanding the ocean's role in the climate system, in past, present and future climates. She is a co-leader of the Earth System Dynamics Group and her work spans both physical and biogeochemical oceanography, using a range of different numerical models.
Specific research interests:
- Southern Ocean circulation and carbon, and effects of Antarctic meltwater
- The glacial ocean
- The role of the ocean and sea ice in Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles
- The interplay between ocean circulation and the carbon cycle in glacial-interglacial cycles
- The ocean in the Planetary Bounderies framework
- Effects of increased ocean model resolution
- Model development and model intercomparisons
