Luisa spent the past 10 years experience connecting the public and private sector with not-for-profit sectors and local communities, mostly by helping building digital platforms for decision making. Currently a Programme Coordinator for the Planetary Boundaries Initiative at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, she is helping leverage the most advanced science to support better planetary stewardship.
Previously, Luisa helped create, scale and run international projects such as World Resources Institute's Global Forest Watch and Climate Watch, LSE Grantham Institute's Climate Change Laws of the World and Transition Pathways Initiative, Mongabay's Data Tools, Restor, The Nature Conservancy's Marxan and Yale University's Map of Life. Most recently, Luisa worked at Planet, the world's largest operator of smallsats, where she led the NICFI Satellite Data Program, a digital public good effort aimed at increasing transparency and the impact of actors working to reduce and reverse deforestation in the tropics.
Luisa holds Master degrees in Environmental Engineering (University of Porto) and Geomatics (Lund University), Originally from Portugal, she has lived and worked in 7 countries, including in Brazil, Indonesia, and Mozambique. She is continuously working to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and justice for Women, Indigenous Peoples and other front-row environmental defenders in various formal and informal communities and networks.
