Dr. Inge Deschepper is an ocean and sea ice biogeochemical modeller who will be working on the biogeochemical modules of the POEM earth system model setup. She works on improving the biogeochemical process representation within the POEM model setup and aims to improve the oxygen modelling within the global framework.
Dr. Deschepper started her academic career at the University of Cape town, obtaining her B.Sc. in Marine Biology, Oceanography and Environmental and Geographical Science. She then went further on to get her B.Sc. Honour in Ocean and Atmospheric Science. For her masters, she went to Europe (Belgium, France and Ireland) to partake in the EMBC+ progarmme where she obtained an M.Sc. in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation. Her masters thesis looked into the impact of tidal forcing on the distribution of Celtic Sea herring larvae.
Dr. Deschepper then went on to study biogeochemistry and productivity of the Hudson Bay Complex using high resolution regional ocean and sea ice models with pelagic and sympagic biogeochemical models coupled to them for her doctorate at Universite Laval, Quebec, Canada. She then continued these studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, for her first postdoctoral contract.
