Ms. Bouley (currently on parental leave) completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and finished her Master’s degree in Development Geography at the University of Bonn. Given her Chilean background, Ms. Bouley pursued her passion to travel to South America and learn from its culture and nature, thus combining her personal interests with her studies. Hence, during her bachelor studies she participated in several research excursions to Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile and gained insight into the countries’ various human-environmental systems. She additionally worked as a student assistant for the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where she traveled to the core area of El Niño, to assist a Ph.D. student in his research on the impacts of ENSO on the vegetation in the (semi-)arid northwest of Peru.
To broaden her regional focus and knowledge, especially in the area of Development Geography Ms. Bouley specialized in Development & Globalization during her master studies. She joined a research trip to Kenya, which led to an internship at the indigenous non-governmental organization Misenyi AIDS & Poverty Eradication Crusade (MAPEC) in Tanzania, and conducted a semester abroad at the Australian National University (ANU) where she studied Environmental and Public Health in relation to Climate Change. With her master thesis focusing on household preparedness for the intraplate seismic risk of the San Ramón Fault in Santiago de Chile, her concern for the communication of risk arouse and will be pursued throughout the EPICC project.

The project can also be found under the name "Climate Capacity Building: Risk Anticipation and Minimization". It is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
