Kilian Kuhla is a postdoctoral researcher in Research Department 3 - Transformation Pathways. After studying physics at TU Berlin, he graduated with a doctoral degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anders Levermann at PIK. During his PhD, he examined the impacts of weather extremes on the global trade network.
His current research focuses on systemic risks to global and regional food security from local crop failures or unilateral policy measures. His model-based analyses aim to reflect inter and intra-regional food inequalities as well as to assess short-term systemic risks to the world food system in the 21st century.

He is member of the working group Event-based Modeling of Economic Impacts of Climate Change. and a co-developer of the agent-based agricultural market model Agrimate. Furthermore, he has partner projects with Numerical analysis of global economic impacts and he co-developed loss-propagation model  Acclimate.
