The NGFS scenarios have become a widely used resource for climate scenario analysis, stress testing, and climate risk management in both the public and private sectors. Following the publication of the fifth generation of scenarios in 2024, ongoing work focuses on improving the usability of the scenarios and streamlining the processes for scenario development, data production, and dissemination.
The 2026 scenario update will integrate these methodological improvements while incorporating feedback from central banks, financial institutions, and other scenario users to better align the scenarios with practical needs. Insights gained during the process will also support the development of future framework improvements planned for subsequent scenario generations.
