Potsdam meets China

12/04/2015 - China is an important participant at the ongoing climate summit. It is one of the countries with the highest CO2 emissions and could be highly affected by changes in the climate system. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) collaborates on several levels with Chinese partners - Chinese delegations visit PIK regularly and PIK scientists travel to China.

This year, experts from the Potsdam Institute accompanied Brandenburg´s prime minister Dietmar Woidke during his visit to Hebei. At a colloquium at the Ministry for Water, they presented the results of a research project in Guanting on climate impacts on the water cycle, water quality and water quantity. The Haihe river commission from Tianjin visited PIK this fall to discuss specific projects and possible consulting mandates. Next to current projects there are new agreements for consulting on the improvement of water quality at the Hutuo He, a river that crosses the capital of the province Hebei, Shijiazhuang.
