"The native of Lower Bavaria and economist not only contributes to ensuring that scientific findings on climate change are heard and implemented in politics, but also fills the values of the Bavarian Constitution with life through his commitment," says the tribute.

In an interview with the Passauer Neue Presse (in German), Edenhofer calls for pragmatism from the Bavarian state government in view of increasing climate damage and its immense costs. "The energy transition pays off, at least in the long term. And thinking along broad historical lines and a lively awareness of everything worth preserving has always been part of Bavaria's self-image."

State Parliament President Ilse Aigner handed out the award in the Senate Hall of the Maximilianeum in Munich. With the Bavarian Constitutional Order 2022, the Bavarian State Parliament honours 50 citizens who have shown outstanding commitment to the common good.
