“Motivated young people are making an impressive effort to address climate change on the ground and push their governments to do more,” Mette-Marit of Norway said. The Crown Princess actively supports the Global Shapers Community established by the World Economic Forum in Davos, with 364 hubs of young people under the age of 30 all around the world. Schellnhuber presented the recently published report “Climate change mitigation as a world citizen movement” by the German Advisory Council on Global Change, which he chairs. The Council is commissioned by the German government.
Schellnhuber acknowledged the Crown Princess efforts in promoting climate action. “Norway is a prime example of a country whose wealth comes from fossil fuels - nonetheless the country recognizes the risks of unabated greenhouse-gas emissions and hence chose to join those who are in favour of meaningful mitigation policy,” he said.
