Call for Applications: Global Sustainability Summer School 2013

03/07/2013 - "Complex(c)ity – urbanization and energy transitions in a changing climate": this is the title of the 2013 Global Sustainability Summer School. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) now call for applications. The intense two-week programme explores global sustainability issues from a complex systems’ perspective with particular focus on urbanization, energy transition and climate change.
Call for Applications: Global Sustainability Summer School 2013

The Global Sustainability Summer School 2013  - which will be held for the second time in Potsdam, Germany, from July 1 to July 12, 2013 - is unique of its kind in Europe. It brings together young scientists, professionals from governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as young managers from the private sector. High profile international speakers will be invited to the 2013 event for presentations. For the Summer School 2012 we were able to secure the participation of speakers such as Elke Weber (Columbia University), Jacqueline McGlade (European Environment Agency) and William Clark (Harvard Kennedy School).

The Summer School will provide a unique opportunity for students and speakers from around the world to foster and enhance international cooperation and exchange. In addition to various forms of knowledge transfer, participants will be encouraged to develop their own creative work. From all applicants 35 participants will be selected, aged between 25 and 40. In 2012 we had participants from more than 20 different countries.

The application deadline is April 10th, 2013.
