7-12/04/2019 - This year's General Assembly of the European Geosceinces Union (EGU) featured several sessions and presentations by scientists from the Climate Resilience Department at PIK. Ines Blumenthal co-convened a session on "Climate Change Education" and Christoph Müller convened a session on "Modeling agricultural systems under global change".

The well-visited session on Climate Change Education explored the challenges and opportunities of Climate Change Education. Under the auspices of the session, J.P. Kropp and Ines Blumenthal gave a presentation on "Disentangling challenges and needs for an effective climate education", in which they presented several innovative education and communication concepts developed within the PIKee and PIKeeBB-projects and by the Climate Media Factory. Both presentation and session lead to intensive mutual exchange between presenters and the audience. There was a general agreement that climate change education would even need greater attention in the future to meet climate change challenges.

RD2 members Femke Lutz, Sara Minoli and Christoph Müller also hosted an inspiring session on "Modeling agricultural systems under global change". Their presentations and posters addressed a multitude of topics, inter alia on management for climate resilient crop production, wind erosion, crop and livestock production, environmental footprints, biodiversity and many more. Participant contributions covered global and regional work illustrating case studies in very different environments including Finland, Peru, China, and South Africa.
