On 25th of January 2024, the Final Conference of the B-EPICC project took place. As the project is coming to an end in the first half of 2024, this Final Conference was conceived as an opportunity to comprehensively present and discuss project outcomes. Together with scientists from each partner country, the PIK team showcased the project’s results, providing partners also with a final opportunity to network with each other.

In recent years, the project and its researchers have contributed to more reliable long-term El Niño forecasting. They have also developed a novel high-resolution gridded precipitation data set for hydrological modelling of Peruvian and Ecuadorian watersheds (RAIN4PE). Another new approach that was developed in the project for the long-term prediction of the Indian summer monsoon is of crucial importance for the management of agricultural, water and energy resources.  The researchers contributed to the assessment of crop suitability and yield forecasting. They also projected future trajectories of natural regeneration under climate change. Additionally, they have published Risk reports on climate migration in Peru, India and Tanzania, providing evidence of how climate change affects human migration and displacement, as well as how to respond to it.

One goal of these events was to open up and discuss possibilities of future international exchange beyond the B-EPICC project.
