Climate Talks in New Dehli

17/10/2023: B-EPICC scientist Prof. Dr. Elena Surovyatkina was invited to the Climate Talks in New Delhi to speak on “Forecasting Monsoon Onset and Withdrawal in India: Building Climate Change Resilience”.

Elena is specialized in performing long-term forecasts of the onset and withdrawal of the Indian Summer Monsoon (the Southwest Monsoon) in the central part of India. Within the framework of the Indo-German Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, H.E. Dr. Philipp Ackermann, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, invited her to hold a keynote and take part in so-called Climate Talks. Together with the experts Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Former Director General of National Mission for Clean Ganga, and Ms. Suruchi Bhadwal, Director of Earth Science and Climate Change at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Elena discussed about forecasting monsoon, water management, and how to build climate resilience.
