The recent development of regenerative energy on biomass basis is among the most important challenges for landscape transformation, globally. If enhanced energy production from first- or second-generation biofuels is to be achieved, then impacts of this transformation on other ecosystem services must be assessed (e.g. on water resources, regional climate, nature conservation). Further, AD (Avoided Deforestation and Degradation) is a policy goal in specific need of scientific assessment of (tropical) forest stability. To support sustainable land use strategies, we will analyze consequences of different mitigation strategies using different models.
