Statement to Environmental Committee of the Berlin House of Representatives by Fritz Reusswig

29/04/2021 - Fritz Reusswig was invited to the Berlin House of Representatives as an expert to comment the amendment to the Berlin Energy Law (EWG Bln), issued by the red-green-red Berlin government. With this law, the Berlin Senate wants to align its climate politics to the Paris Agreement goals.

Fritz, a co-author of the 2016 Berlin Energy and Climate Strategy (BEK), supported the amendment and highlighted the necessity to orchestrate the road to climate neutrality in the spirit of social inclusion and justice. The Berlin AfD had also invited its own expert, an entrepreneur. He stated 'If I would believe in CO2 as a cause of global warming - which I don't - I would invest in new materials instead of CO2-intensive steel products.' His firm would be happy to do the job. The first populist climate denier that was willing to help in reaching Berlin's Paris goals! A sign of hope in gloomy times?
