Wiesbaden Year of Water 2022: "Water and the Climate Crisis" - Interdisciplinary Roundtable at the Literaturhaus

Water is considered the most important raw material for life on earth and is becoming increasingly important, especially in view of global warming and the associated global water shortage. On the other hand, this valuable resource can be threatening and destructive to humans and nature in the form of natural disasters. On the occasion of the Wiesbaden Year of Water 2022, the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine / Kulturamt Wiesbaden invites you to an interdisciplinary roundtable discussion on Wednesday, May 18, 7:30 p.m., at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1.

Climate researcher Prof. Dr. Dieter Gerten, marine biologist Heike Vesper and author John von Düffel will discuss the significance of water in the context of climate policy and consider its ambivalence from different perspectives. The conversation will be moderated by Jenny Friedrich-Freksa (Cultural Exchange).

Dieter Gerten conducts research at the world-renowned Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, focusing primarily on the global water crisis in the context of climate change. Heike Vesper is a marine biologist and director of WWF Germany. Her work focuses on international marine policy, conservation of important marine habitats, and sustainable fisheries. The author and dramaturge John von Düffel is the author of numerous novels, essays and plays. A recurring element in his works is water in all its literary facets.
