Renaissance of nuclear power?

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung invites to discuss, among others with PIK researcher Michael Pahle

How can a successful transformation of energy policy look like and what contribution can nuclear power make to it? The Konrad Adenauer Foundation invites to discuss the challenges of the energy transition with experts from the scientific community.

In addition to the issue of security policy, the Russian war in Ukraine has also put the topic of German power generation back on the agenda. The heavy dependence on Russian gas and oil has been reduced as a result, which now raises the question of sensible and affordable alternatives. At least for short-term bridging during the transformation to other energy sources, nuclear power was also brought into the discussion as a potential method.

Joachim Weimann (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg), whose research includes the costs of energy transformation, and Michael Pahle (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research) will participate in the event. The issue of nuclear power will be used as a starting point for the overarching theme of energy transformation.
