Science meets music - Charity concert

Soloists of the Staatskapelle Berlin, together with the Director of PIK, form a charity concert in a historical cupola hall on “Telegrafenberg” in Potsdam. In the darkness of the impressive observatory, the “orchestra of change” will break open old programme routines - Johann Sebastian Bach’s Art of the Fugue meets modern composers like Antal Dorati, Isang Yun or Eugène Ysaÿe.

All revenues will be collected into a concrete project: the association Eben!Holz e.V. wants to afforest rainforest in the Makira region in Madagascar. About 100 hectare forest shall be afforested in the next years and be protected in the long-term by inclusion of local people and the introduction of sustainable management. The project is sponsored by the German Society of Violin Makers – the woods in Madagascar also include ebonies from which violins are made.
