Launch of Berlin Insights Series on Climate Change and Development

The inaugural event of a new series of dialogues, the 'Berlin Insights Series on Climate Change and Development' marks the beginning of a deepened cooperation between the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). The focus will be on driving forward applied development research on how to improve climate action and resilience in African countries. It will have the heading "From climate science to climate action: Climate-proofing African-European cooperation". Christoph Gornott, Leader of the working group Adaptation in Agricultural Systems (AGRICA) at PIK and Professor at Kassel University, will present latest results of the working group's research. The main focus of the panel discussion, in which Johan Rockström, Director of PIK, will take part in, will be on analysing climate risks as well as the cost-benefit ratio of adaptation options in Africa.

The new series of dialogues is to take place once a year, and will give a deeper insight into the applied research being sponsored by the BMZ and the PIK in a collaborative venture. As a forum for policymakers, scientists and practitioners, the dialogues will also provide a platform for discussing the challenges that climate change poses in developing countries.

There will be a live stream available on January, 20: https://www.bmz.de/en/issues/klimaschutz/climate-events-cas-bis/
