Doctoral student eligibility and application procedures

Eligibility criteria for PhD or Dr. rer. medic.

Requirements:

  • Meets eligibility requirements as set by Charité (link)
  • Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. epidemiology, public health, health economics)
  • Degree or equivalent expertise in epidemiology
  • Experience or training in public/global health
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and statistical software skills, in particular experience or willingness to learn Stata
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Interest to work in interdisciplinary, multi-cultural teams and settings
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in public health nutrition or nutrition epidemiology
  • Expertise / degree in another relevant subject (e.g. medicine, ecology, biology, social sciences)
  • Expertise in other relevant skills or methods (e.g. GIS, qualitative methods, etc.)
  • Able to communicate in German

 

Eligibility criteria for Dr. med.

Requirements:

  • Meets eligibility requirements as set by Charité (link)
  • At least basic skills in epidemiology and statistics and willingness to expand on these
  • Experience or training (e.g. summer school, elective courses, seminars) in public/global health
  • Experience or willingness to learn Stata
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Interest to work in interdisciplinary, multi-cultural teams and settings
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in public health nutrition/nutrition epidemiology
  • Expertise / degree in another relevant subject (e.g. ecology, biology, social sciences)
  • Expertise in other relevant skills or methods (e.g. GIS, qualitative methods, etc.)
  • Able to communicate in German

Please note: There are no fixed starting points for doctoral students and applications may be submitted at any time. You will receive a confirmation of receipt within a week after submission. Submissions will be reviewed quarterly. We are a very small team and there are few openings. If not selected, you will receive an email to say your application was not successful at this time.
