In the context of G7 and G20 in the year 2022 German and Indonesian Foundations have agreed upon a deeper cooperation in order to support climate action and higher ambitions on the global scale. The bridging function and the network of more than 70 foundations worldwide of the Foundations Platform F20 may help to enable mutual understanding and joint activities in the run up to the G7 Summit in Germany, the G20 Summit in October in Bali/Indonesia and up to COP 27 in Egypt in November.

The idea is to showcase opportunities for Indonesian and German/European partners, international foundations working in Indonesia, foundations and stakeholders from both countries  and experts to learn from the successes and failures in their countries for a “Global Energiewende” (Global Energy Transition). By sharing experiences of the German Energiewende and especially the discussed coal phase out in Germany up to the year 2030, the Symposium is thought to explore the right processes of ownership, trust and awareness building for a just transition.

Therefore, the virtual event will stimulate discussions on how to enable policy frameworks and decision-making whilst identifying common ground for funding opportunities for foundations.
