As part of the eco-film tour, "Engagement Global" will make a stop at the Krugpark Nature Conservation Center in the city of Brandenburg on Saturday, May 7, 2022, starting at 3 pm. After opening with the film "Trockenland - Wem gehört das Wasser?" (Dry land - Who owns the water?), the following presentations and discussions with experts will focus on the question of how we can counteract climate change locally and globally.

Stefanie Wesch from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Boubacar Diop from the Aktionsgemeinschaft Solidarische Welt (online) will speak about climate change and its effects in Brandenburg and other countries, using the example of the Sahel region in Africa.

In the following panel discussion with Stefanie Wesch, Dr. Kathleen Garz, Head of the Lower Water Authority, Municipality of Brandenburg an der Havel and Michael Ganschow, Managing Director of the Green League Brandenburg e. V., the focus will be on solutions and possible actions.
A market of the possibilities offers beyond that the possibility of coming with local and regional groups of participants into the exchange.

The event is free of charge. Registrations are possible until May 4, 2022 at aussenstelle.berlin@engagement-global.de or by phone at 030 254 82 34 27 (Engagement Global) or 03381 58 31 60 (Krugpark Nature Conservation Center).

The legal regulations and hygienic requirements specified at the time of the event must be observed.

Background

Direct consequences of climate change, such as water shortage and drought, which in combination with other factors can lead to conflicts over the distribution of natural resources, are pressing issues and challenges in Brandenburg. At the same time, regions in the Global South are also confronted with these issues. What concrete solutions do we need to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda in the context of climate change and water as a resource? This is the focus of the discussion.
