Sophie Fuchs is a doctoral researcher at the Research Department 3 (Transformation Pathways) of PIK and member of the International Climate Policy Team within the Energy Systems Working Group. Her work focuses on analyzing political economy constraints to sectoral decarbonization. Sophie also works towards including such constraints into an integrated assessment model to evaluate climate change mitigation strategies. Currently, she is contributing to the ELEVATE research project.

Sophie holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Humboldt-University Berlin, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Governance and Public Policy from the University of Passau. Before joining PIK, she has worked as Policy Advisor for Climate and Development Banks at the non-profit organization Germanwatch, and as research assistant at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
