Scheibe

I completed my Master of Science in Geography at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The topic of my thesis was "Coupled human physical effects in changing climate: Flood risk management and the levee effect".

Actually, I am working on the SLICE project.

Here, I am mainly interested in coastal floods (incl. storm surges) and the adapted behaviour of affected communities. Assessments of the effectiveness of different coastal adaptation strategies remain limited and become more relevant under climate change. Moreover, evaluating these adaptation measures from a physical perspective alone is not sufficient, as these also strongly influence social behaviour regarding risk perception and autonomous adaptation.

I'm a fellow of the Geo.X network in the field of Geo.Society. This topic combines social science perspectives with core geoscientific research fields to analyse the relations of geoscience with society. There is a focus on societal challenges that require the joint efforts of geoscientists and social scientists. Geo.Society will train a new generation of interdisciplinary scientists with geoscience and social science research skills that can interface both research fields.
