Dr. Peron A. Collins-Sowah

Postdoctoral Researcher

I received a BSc. degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Ghana in 2008, an MSc. in Agricultural Sciences and Resource Management in the Tropics and Subtropics from the University of Bonn in 2012, and an International Master of Environmental Sciences from the University of Cologne in 2017. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kiel where I used microeconometric analysis to study farm households' adaptation strategies to climate shocks and their related welfare impacts. Previously, I worked on the Climate Change Impacts and Policies in Heterogeneous Societies (CHIPS) project in Research Department 3, here at PIK. In the project, I quantified the effect of climate change on within-country income inequality. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher within the working group on Adaptation in Agricultural Systems. I am employing econometric approaches to empirically assess adaptation measures for agriculture in the global south.
