M. Sc. Manon Glockmann

PhD student
PhD representative

Manon Glockmann is a doctoral researcher at the Universität Potsdam and part of the project “Climate Change Impacts on Migration and Urbanization” (Impetus). As climate change is threatening people's livelihoods all around the world the project is directed to the extent to which migration and urbanization are affected. Manon Glockmann thereby focuses on the part of urbanization where she analyses the growth of global urban land cover. Fortunately, this is also the topic of her dissertation which is supervised by apl. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kropp (Universität Potsdam) and Prof. Tobia Lakes (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). Dr. Diego Rybski is her day-to-day supervisor and works closely together with Manon Glockmann on the Impetus project.

Manon Glockmann holds a Master's degree in Urban Ecosystem Sciences from the Technische Universität Berlin and wrote her Master thesis about human thermal comfort inside the Berlin subway system. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Geographical Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin where her thesis dealt with the detection of green roofs using remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS).

Currently, Manon Glockmann is one of the four PhD representatives at PIK.
