Joanna Sitarz is a Doctoral Researcher in the Energy Transition Lab at PIK, studying policy instruments for Europe's transition to climate neutrality. In particular, she is focusing on better understanding the impacts of myopic decision making on transformation pathways. Her recent work has focused on the EU Emissions Trading System, examining how policy credibility influences its effectiveness.

Joanna holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen. In her studies she specialized in energy engineering and numerical optimization. Before joining PIK, she worked as an intern at the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission as well as Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment.
