Clemens Giesen

Scientist
Giesen

Clemens Giesen is a scientific researcher working on the potential impacts of crossing the Amazon rainforest tipping point on biodiversity. He holds a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Cologne and completed his master's thesis on species distribution models at PIK under the supervision of Maximilian Kotz, Leonie Wenz, and Dirk Witthaut. Since August 2025, he has been a researcher in the Lab "Societal Transition and Well-being".

His research interests span both the theoretical understanding of tipping points and their application to real-world systems, with a particular focus on quantifying their (ecological) impacts.
