Carin joined PIK in June 2023 and serves as a scientist for the GESUND project. She graduated from the University of Hohenheim in 2021 with a MSc in Environmental Protection and Agricultural Food Production and has over 3 years of experience working in sustainable food system transitions. Her thesis operationalized the term 'local' in local food systems and modeled its key components to investigate localization potential for the food supply of Jakarta, Indonesia. Her research interests include spatial variations in and relationships between climate factors, dietary patterns and nutrition outcomes, drivers and barriers toward healthy and sustainable eating habits, and food systems modeling.
