Wirkung von Klimaveränderungen auf Waldökosysteme

P. Lasch, M. Lindner (August 1995)

In this project, the effects of climate change on the forest communities of central Europe were examined with the help of models describing forest development (succession models). After a comparison of the succession models FORSKA and FORECE at locations in northeastern Germany, further sensitivity studies and applications were carried out using FORSKA, and climate change scenarios were investigated on a regional level in Brandenburg and on a supra-regional level in central Europe. It was concluded that with the applied FORSKA model rough distribution patterns of the vegetation were satisfactorily depicted, but realistic biomasses could not be simulated for different European climate zones with a single model version and set of parameters. It is necessary further to develop a new succession model for regional and supra-regional model applications.
