Schellnhuber has been appointed a "Distingushed Visiting Professor" at the 88th Tsinghua Expert Forum, where he gave a lecture on the risks and consequences of climate change. “Where on Earth Are We Going: Existential Crisis or Disruptive Transformation?” - was the title of the lecture. Speaking to students, university representatives and guests, Schellnhuber not only confirmed the need to maintain maximum global warming at well below 2 degrees Celsius, but also pointed out ways in which the use of renewable energies and a consistent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions could prevent the worst effects of climate change.
