Edenhofer again ranked amongst Germany’s top economists

09/03/2018 – Ottmar Edenhofer has once again been ranked one of Germany’s leading economists by the national daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He is the only climate expert who made it into the top 20. In the category of scientific quotations, Edenhofer now reached the 4th rank. In the overall ranking which is based on a number of broader criteria, he is ranked 12. Later this month, Edenhofer will become one of the two new Directors of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. He is also Professor at Technische Universität Berlin and Director of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change.
Edenhofer again ranked amongst Germany’s top economists

The ranking names 100 important German economists; just like last year Edenhofer is number 12. This is even more remarkable since climate economics are still considered by many to be a side aspect. Interestingly, in the core category of scientific quotations Edenhofer overtook researchers such as Michael Hüther from Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft, who is better known in the broader public due to his strong presence in the media and therefore reached a higher overall score.

Ernst Fehr is number 1 in the ranking, he is a Professor of Microeconomics and Experimental Economics at the University of Zurich. Professor Clemens Fuest from ifo institute Munich, an expert in fiscal and economic policy, is number 2. Number 3 is Marcel Fratzscher from DIW Berlin who does Macroeconomics, international finance and monetary economics.
