At the Long Night of Science, everyone interested has the chance to get first-hand information on research on climate change directly from the experts. But besides from well manned presentations for example on extreme weather events, the sun as a factor in climate change or “Climate neutral Berlin 2050”, there were also a lot of different offers for children. Research on networks was shown through playing network games, climate scientists were challenged by visitors at “Climate Activity”, and kids could simulate the sea's turnover driven by temperature and salinity with a special experiment on ocean circulation.
For the first time, PIK was also present at two different locations in Berlin this year. The Leibniz Association opened its doors in Berlin-Mitte, so did the Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community (Climate-KIC) in Berlin-Schöneberg. PIK was there to present its platform KlimafolgenOnline.com. The website enables citizens and decision-makers to get information on climate impacts in different regions in Germany.
