The highly interactive, discussion-based conference aims to develop a new vision for climate impacts research by laying the foundations for regular, community-driven syntheses of climate change impact analyses. The ongoing Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISI-MIP) constitutes an important step towards a comprehensive, quantitative understanding of climate change impacts. Its results will be presented at the conference.
The meeting, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, will bring together from May 27th to 30th leading scientists and decision-makers from local to international levels. It is going to address five fundamental challenges on the road towards a new architecture for impacts research: Can we integrate our existing knowledge across sectors? What is still missing? How certain are we? How do we bridge the divide between regional and global impact studies? Is anybody listening?
