EPICC training during first national workshop on climate change and human mobility in Peru, 30.09.-01.10.2019

EPICC researcher Jonas Bergmann trained more than thirty practitioners from government and civil society institutions in Peru on the linkages of climate change and human mobility in the country. The training took place during the two-day workshop “Primer Taller de Migración, Medio Ambiente y Cambio Climático” between 30.09. and 01.10.2019. It was organized in cooperation with the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the German and French Embassies, and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). In the training, Jonas Bergmann gave insights from an EPICC research report that assesses the evidence on the climate-mobility nexus in Peru. He discussed larger socio-economic as well as climate trends in the country, provided a deeper dive into the influence of climate risks on mobility patterns, and analyzed the normative realm in the country. The presentation fed into various follow-up sessions attempting to advance the policy approach to the issue.
