The German government has the ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by at least 65 percent compared to 1990. The "Climate Protection Act" envisages reducing annual emissions in agriculture by 14 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents, one fourth of the 2014 annual emissions. To meet these targets, the ministry relies on, amongst others, innovative solutions, resource efficiency and synergies between climate protection and adaptation.
During this meeting, scientists from the working groups 'hydrological risks' 'landuse and resilience' and 'adaptation in agricultural systems' presented their research and answered questions on transformative solutions in livestock farming and water use to an expert delegation from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
