The ISDRS, a central knowledge hub on research in sustainable development, annually select and honour the best research paper on sustainable development with the intention to stimulate further solid research on this topic.

Anne's paper was nominated by an ISDRS-member and then selected to be put on the 'short-list' by a jury. ISDRS members could then cast their vote on one of these short-listed papers. The winner of the 'Best Sustainable Development Article Award 2020' was announced during the annual conference.

The paper 'Variations in sustainable development goal interactions: Population, regional, and income disaggregation' highlights that tackling inequalities among population, income, and regional groups can leverage the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
