For the working group “Forest and Ecosystem Resilience”, the Research Department Climate Resilience at PIK is offering a

Student assistant position FER (m/f/d)

 (Position number: 24-2023 SHK FER)

starting as soon as possible.

The position is funded for 10 months with the possibility of extension. The renumeration is calculated according to the requiremenst of the TdL. The current hourly rate for a student assistant with a Bachelor's degree is 12,72 €. This is a part-time positions with a weekly working time of 10 hours per week. Appointment is conditional on approval by the funding agency.

Key responsibilities:

  • support of the coordination and data management of the projects CASCADES and PROCLIAS
  • support the reporting of the CASCADES and PROCLIAS projects incuding a synthesis of cascading climate impacts
  • support the organisation of the final CASCADES conference including working on the book of abstracts and helping with the reporting from the plenary sessions
  • editing documents, creating overviews, managing reference systems for scientific publications
  • support workshop organisation and documentation of workshop outcomes on the project homepages
  • develop homepage content together with researchers from PROCLIAS (blog posts, technical reports)
  • prepare slides for project meetings and other project presentations
  • performing literature research on ‘climate hotspots outside of Europe’

You are a Bachelor or Master student (and have):

  • studying forest science/ecology/biology/geo-ecology/geography/global change management/ or other related fields
  • excellent English and German communication skills
  • excellent command of MS Office tools, video conferencing and web-based file-sharing systems
  • very good organisational and time-management skills
  • knowledge and interest in climate change impact, adaptation and resilience as well as in modelling would be an advantage
