Dr. Franziska Piontek

Senior scientist

Franziska is a senior scientist at PIK and vice chair of the working group "Macroeconomic modeling of climate change mitigation and impacts". She works on the economic assessment of impacts of climate change and their distributional effects with the goal to include improve the representation of these effects in integrated assessment modeling. She is also a member of the coordination team of the Intersectoral Model Intercomparison Project (www.isimip.org).

Franziska studied Physics and Astrophysics at the Universities of Tübingen (Germany) and Maryland (USA). She holds a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Potsdam (Germany) as well as a Master in Peace and Security Studies of the University of Hamburg (Germany). She joined PIK as a Postdoc in 2011.
