graduated from Moscow State University, speciality – geophysics. Diploma Thesis: "On the effects of sound and gravity waves propagation into the middle and high atmosphere of polar regions"

junior scientist at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Moscow

1974 – 1976:
post-graduate at IAP

1976:
Ph. D. Thesis: "Regulative role of cloudiness in the global-scale processes of heat and moisture exchange in the atmosphere-underlying layer system"

1977 – 1984:
scientist at IAP

1984 – 1991:
senior scientist at IAP

1991:
Professor at Leningrad Hydrometeorological Institute, PHD. Habil. Thesis: "Statistical-dynamical modeling of long-term climate processes"

1991 – 2001:
